Herman Cain is now saying that one of Perry’s men is responsible for the smear campaign. He calls on Perry, and the politico to apologize. Cain says that Perry’s pollster worked for the Restaurant Association at the time. If this works for Herman, this could solidify Herman Cain’s lead. Cain gained a lot of name recognition thorough this smear campaign and it appears to have backfired on whoever started it. More news soon. Check Drudge Report for news as it happens.

I’ve been doing some reading on the subject of saturated fat, and I wrote this about it.

Bacon

Is saturated fat bad?

I, like most people, was spoon fed by society the idea that fat is bad and that eating fat makes one unhealthy. Many of us are taught to avoid saturated fat like the plague. Upon some research and some talking with my mother, now seriously question the truth behind the “avoid saturated fat” crowd.

When I learned about global warming in middle school, I knew that I was learning about a theory, which may or may not be true. I did not know it at the time, but I was being taught about theories and unproven principles in health and foods classes too. I did not realize how much conflicting data and opposing viewpoints there is in the topic of nutrition. It is easy to become overwhelmed with the confusion, misinformation and the thousands of statistics that we hear about diet and health every day.

Saturated fat has a thick clowd of misinformation surrounding it. In health class at Andover, I was taught that saturated fat was very unhealthy. We were taught that it causes heart disease, along with other health problems. The media has created an image of healthy and unhealthy foods, much of which is in heavy disagreement among researchers and doctors. The media is an unreliable way to find nutrition information. Hundreds of studies that show data different than what is publically expected are ignored, while some that coincide with the established belief are the ones that get reported. In 2010, a new analysis failed to link saturated fat with heart disease. The “research” that “indicated” saturated fat was unhealthy in the first place is being debated and is being disproven. Also, more recently heart disease is increasingly being linked to family, not types of food eaten. Many people think that fat its self is unhealthy. According to numerous studies, that is not the case. Eating too much of anything is unhealthy, but saying that fat is unhealthy is like saying that water is unhealthy. Too much fat will definitely cause problems. That is absolutely no reason to fear fat. Too much lettuce will cause problems too.

It is not clear where the saturated fat hate originated. According to an article from Paleo Diet Lifestyle website, one of the first studies involved rabbits being fed saturated fat and unsaturated fat. This was flawed because rabbits consume no saturated fat in their natural diet. Humans, on the other hand were made to eat meat, which is high in saturated fat. The article goes on to disprove other popular studies on the subject.

I would not advise one to eat more saturated fat than they would normally eat, but I would not advise against eating saturated fat at all. I, like a lot of people enjoy bacon and butter and all sorts of foods that are constantly attacked by so called “experts”. A simple Google search will prove that there are thousands of valid conflicting viewpoints on health and diet information. However, saturated fat is not the same as Trans fat which is manmade and much more conclusively causes health problems.

Drawing from much of what I read, I was horribly misinformed in foods and health class at school. I would advise one to take diet “news” with a grain of salt.

As you most likely know, Hank Williams Jr. used president Obama in the same sentence as Hitler and was booted from ESPN’s pregame show. So, in response to the mostly negative publicity that resulted from the incident, Williams wrote a song that called “Keep the change”. Although, I don’t think it is a particularly good song, I have no problem with the song or Hank Williams Jr. himself. I do have a problem with the fact that he stole the song title, and main catchphrase of the song from Darryl Worley. Darryl Worley wrote and recorded the song “Keep The Change” on 2010. It is a much better song than Hank William Jr.’s “Keep the Change”, which he claims to have written overnight. I just wanted to point out that it was Darryl Worley’s idea, and he wrote and sings a much better song.

Hear is Darryl Worley’s “Keep the Change”.

Haven’t had a Tech post in a while. This one is about Moore’s law. Moore’s law is a nifty little thing that says that the number of transistors in a CPU, the memory quantity, and even pixels in a digital camera double every roughly 2 years. There are few things that become obsolete as fast as a computer does. In my opinion, it will undoubtedly have to stop or slow down sometime. Perhaps humans will end up turning away from computers. Perhaps we will “get bored” with computers. Perhaps more and more technology in our lives will cause us to value the real world more than ever. I can’t pretend to have any idea what the future has in store, but we still know that technology in our lives will continue to grow, at least for now. I think technology has, in me though, made me value my time in reality.

This is good news for Herman Cain fans. This shows that he still has a chance. This will increase Cain support, no doubt. Cain has a very appealing campaign strategy with his “common sense solutions” theme and it is a good one. Now that he is being more specific on his economic policy and is becoming more well known people are taking him more seriously. He has a good internet base, and the most views on YouTube out of all the candidates. He is a really likable guy, as far as his stances go. He is really focusing on sticking up for the common folk, which is very appealing for frustrated Americans who haven’t been listened to by their representatives. It’s time to jump on the Herman Cain train!
